Perfume for a Great Cause: The 7 Virtues

Hello everyone,

Apologies for not updating this blog on a daily or weekly basis.  It's been quite the month with many activities happening.

Lately, I've been venturing on what the next type of perfume to purchase.  I've been really impressed with a specific perfume from Afghanistan called The 7 Virtues.  As quoted in their site: "We source organic oils for our fragrances from countries like Afghanistan and Haiti with future oils being sourced from the Middle East and Africa. Every time we purchase legal organic oils from Afghanistan, we are doing our part to provide alternatives to the illegal poppy crop which causes instability in our own towns and communities as well as Afghanistan as the illegal poppy crop accounts for 90 per cent of the world’s heroin drug trade.

Our goal is to encourage others to do trade with business people in Afghanistan  and other nations experiencing strife as a part of the solution to building peace."

There are 2 scents available: The 7 Virtues Afghanistan Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum and The 7 Virtues Noble Rose of Afghanistan.  A friend of mine purchased the Noble Rose scent which was sold out during the Meet and Greet CBC's Dragon's Den W. Brett Wilson and CEO Barb Stegemann hosted by The Bay.  The two are the business partners behind this great cause.

Personally I love the Afghanistan Orange Blossom Eau de Parfum as it contains a hint of Jasmine reminding me of the Filipino national flower also known as Sampaguita.

Ladies, if you are on the next venture to purchasing that next bottle of perfume, check out the 7 Virtues.  You will smell great, at the same time contributing to a great cause!

Intro.....

Hello Everyone...
Welcome to my first ever blog.  For years and years I would always see friends blog and even Vlog (Video Log - saw this on www.happyslip.com) but never thought I would ever start my own.  To me, I thought Apartment 107, Friendster, MySpace, Twitter, Yelp and Facebook, were good enough for people to know what I`m up to.
I do have to admit though, I didn`t like Creative Writing in school.   For some odd reason I couldn`t think of any creative ideas to write about, thinking I would write about uninteresting things.  But now with the power of the internet, you could write about anything and everything!!

Just a little bit of info about myself.....

I am born and raised in beautiful Vancouver, Canada.  Yes it is beautiful.  This city has been ranked many times as the most beautiful city to live in the world. And now with the 2010 Winter Olympics held here and gone by....Vancouver is definitely a place to visit.  I always take pride in living here.  People say it rains too much.  I do not think so.  Maybe because I am used to it...but I call my city a playground.  There is so much to do all 4 seasons.

My parents are from the Philippines and had migrated to the Prairies in the 70`s (Winnipeg to be exact...surprise...surprise)  I think most immigrants from the Philippines landed in either very hot or very cold Winnipeg.  My mother Leticia of Filipino, Spanish and Chinese descent had worked all over in Europe working in the clothing and textile industry. She actually had the option to either work in Australia or Canada....and so Canada it was eh!!  My late father Sinforoso was a very talented musician.  I think this is where my brother, sisters and I have this passion for music from.  My father was in a band and had the privilege to travel around the world with his passion as a musician.  He played the guitar, piano and trumpet.  He would actually play the piano and trumpet at the same time.  Now that is what I call TALENT!
I am the eldest of 7 children and yes it is a big responsibility!!

After highschool, my heart was set on Radio Broadcasting and decided to take an Intro to Radio Broadcasting course.   It was at a local theatre that my coworkers would tell me I should get into it as I had the voice for it.  But after I finished the course....it was not as attractive to me to get into that career.  I was also lost as there were and still are so many things I wanted to do.

I was working in the Film & Television industry for 6 years and prior to that had worked at a theatre for the performing arts for 3 years.  One would think I would get into acting and all but for some reason I was really shy.

Presently I am working in the Engineering industry....I know...what a drastic career change.

Ok, so that is a little bit about me....

But to really let you all know the purpose of this blog....
I am here to share ideas, to inform of great deals happening in and around Vancouver (Not that we cannot have too many coupon deals), give food reviews and to just to simply share with you all what I have been up to.

So here's to my first ever blog.  I hope you will join me in my journeys.  I will try to keep this entertaining enough to read!
